At Savage Travel Co, we respect your privacy. We believe you should know what happens to your personal information when you visit our website or contact us.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how we store it and what rights you have.

1. Who We Are

Savage Travel Co is an independent scuba diving and adventure travel brand operated by Shaun Humphries, based in Sweden.

For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Shaun Humphries is the data controller responsible for personal information collected through this website.

2. Information We Collect

When you contact us

If you submit an enquiry through our website or contact us by email, we may collect:

- Your name, if provided

- Your email address

- Your telephone number, if provided

- Details of your enquiry, including travel interests, diving qualifications or experience

- Other information you voluntarily share

We use this information to respond to your questions, discuss suitable diving or travel experiences and follow up on your enquiry.

Providing information is voluntary, but we need your email address and enquiry details to respond.

Please do not include sensitive medical information in an initial enquiry. Any medical assessments or fitness-to-dive requirements should be handled through the appropriate diving or training operator.

When you visit our website

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which may process technical information necessary to operate, secure and analyse the website.

This may include:

- IP address

- Browser and device information

- Approximate geographic location

- Pages visited

- Referral sources

- Cookie preferences and relevant technical data

We do not currently operate a newsletter or marketing mailing list.

3. Why We Use Your Information

We process personal information for the following purposes:

- Responding to enquiries and communicating with visitors

- Providing information about diving trips, courses and conservation experiences

- Helping visitors understand suitable programmes and available options

- Maintaining website functionality and security

- Understanding website performance and improving the visitor experience

- Meeting applicable legal obligations

Our legal basis for processing

We rely on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR to respond to enquiries, manage correspondence and maintain the security and operation of our website, where those interests are not overridden by your rights and freedoms.

Where non-essential cookies or tracking require consent, we rely on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.

Where information must be retained to comply with a legal obligation, we rely on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.

You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

4. How We Store and Share Information

Our website uses Squarespace for hosting and contact forms.

When you submit an enquiry, your information is stored in Squarespace's form submission and contact management system.

Enquiries are also delivered to our Savage Travel Gmail account, operated by Google, and are handled personally by Shaun Humphries.

Squarespace and Google may process information in connection with providing their services.

We do not sell personal information, and submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing communications.

How long we keep your information

We retain general enquiry information for up to 12 months after our last correspondence, unless a longer period is necessary for an ongoing enquiry, booking-related matter, legal obligation or dispute.

We periodically review stored enquiries and delete information that is no longer required from our active Squarespace and Gmail systems.

Service-provider backups may remain subject to the applicable provider's retention and deletion policies.

Technical website information and analytics data may have separate retention periods determined by Squarespace's services and settings.

International data processing

Squarespace and Google may process personal information outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where personal information is transferred internationally, applicable GDPR requirements and appropriate transfer safeguards must be observed.

Further information about Squarespace's data processing arrangements is available in its [Data Processing Addendum](https://www.squarespace.com/dpa).

You can contact us for further information about how your enquiry information is handled.

5. Travel Bookings and Third Parties

Savage Travel Co provides information and personal guidance about diving trips, training and conservation experiences offered by independent service providers.

Bookings, contracts and payments are handled directly by the relevant providers, including Scuba Travel and Deep Blue Conservation.

Savage Travel does not process customer travel payments through this website.

When you follow a link to another provider's website, that provider's own privacy policy applies to information you submit directly to them.

We do not automatically receive your payment or booking information from those providers.

If you ask us to introduce you to a provider, we will inform you before sharing your contact details.

6. Cookies and Website Analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to support its operation and understand website performance.

Essential cookies

These help the website function, maintain security and remember necessary settings or preferences.

Non-essential cookies

These may be used for website analytics and performance measurement.

We use Squarespace's cookie consent system, which allows visitors to accept, decline or manage non-essential cookies.

Our website is configured to restrict non-essential Squarespace cookies until the appropriate consent has been given.

You can manage your cookie preferences through the cookie controls available on our website. You may also manage cookies through your browser settings.

Website analytics

We use Squarespace's built-in website analytics to understand general website performance and visitor activity.

Squarespace's individual-visit Activity Log has been disabled to reduce unnecessary collection and display of visitor information.

Squarespace may still process technical information necessary to provide hosting, security and analytics services.

Third-party content

Links to external websites or services may lead to platforms with their own privacy and cookie practices.

Where third-party content is embedded on our website, additional processing or cookies may be subject to that provider's practices and applicable consent requirements.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Under GDPR, you may have the right to:

- Request access to personal information we hold about you

- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information

- Request deletion of your personal information

- Restrict certain types of processing

8. Marketing Communications

Savage Travel Co does not currently operate an email newsletter or marketing mailing list.

Submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to promotional emails.

We may respond to your enquiry and follow up on matters directly related to it, but we do not use enquiry contact details for unrelated marketing campaigns.

If we introduce marketing subscriptions in the future, we will update this policy and provide appropriate consent options.

9. Updates to This Policy
